You don’t have to wait for your existing agents agreement to end before you switch to a different agent, you can appoint an alternative agent at any time. However this may mean you could be liable to pay more than one agent the agreed fee. So if this is something you would not consider, instead you can give your existing agent the required notice to terminate and wait until their sole agency period has expired before you instruct another agent.
